Letrozole (Letrogen), also known as Femara, is the strongest and least frequently used Aromatase Inhibitor (AI) drug which becomes invaluable to supplement with for those running steroid cycles with aromatizing compounds. Where SERMs bind to estrogen receptors, effectively blocking estrogen from binding to them, Aromatase Inhibitors (AIs) function by blocking the initial formation of the aromatase enzyme, which is a byproduct of administering most anabolic steroids. Letrozole use is rarely supplemented with by steroid users, as it completely decimates the body’s serum estradiol levels, inhibiting the aromatase process, mitigating the potential adverse side effects. Most steroid cycles require an AI to prevent elevated estrogen levels and the related side effects. If the effects have already manifested, then a Selective Estrogen Receptor
Modulator (SERM) such as Raloxifene should also be utilized to counter the existing elevated estrogen levels from worsening and to reverse the developed side effects (gynecomastia, water retention, erectile dysfunction, etc.). Letrozole is commonly used pre-contest by competitive bodybuilders looking to decrease/kill estrogen levels to appear esthetically dry and hard.
