Crestor, or Rosuvastatin, is classified as a statin medication, which is commonly prescribed to prevent heart disease and manage cholesterol-related issues. Crestor is generally prescribed alongside a healthy diet to help decrease “bad” cholesterol/LDL and triglycerides while increasing levels of “good” cholesterol/HDL. Crestor administration has added benefits such as slowing the progression of atherosclerosis, decreasing the risk of stroke and/or heart attack, and other cardiovascular complications. Use of this medication may benefit bodybuilders and anyone using anabolic steroids – which can negatively affect cholesterol and heart health.

Crestor (10mg x 50)

Crestor is the familiar name of the generic statin medication Rosuvastatin. It is a commonly prescribed medication used together with a healthy diet of clean, whole, low-fat foods to decrease blood levels of bad cholesterol (low-density lipoprotein, or LDL), increase levels of good cholesterol (high-density lipoprotein, or HDL), and lower triglycerides (a form of fat circulating in the blood). Being a statin, rosuvastatin functions by inhibiting HMG-CoA reductase, a cholesterol-producing enzyme found in the liver. Crestor has other benefits such as slowing the progression of atherosclerosis (the accumulation of plaque in blood vessels), and decreasing the risk of stroke, heart attack, and other cardiovascular complications. One of the adverse side effects of prolonged anabolic steroid use and/or abuse is cholesterol biomarkers changing for the negative (increased LDL and triglycerides, with decreased HDL), which over time can lead to an increased likelihood of a number of cardiovascular complications. The use of ancillary drugs to counter the negative side effects of steroid use should be a staple in every cycle for the responsible steroid user concerned about their health. Regular blood work should be done to monitor all biomarkers and see how exogenous hormone administration is affecting one’s health. Crestor use can benefit both men and women but should not be used by pregnant women (or women breastfeeding) as it can cause serious harm to the baby. Like all medications, there are contraindications for use that will greatly differ from person to person. It can also negatively interact with other medications so should be taken under the supervision of one’s doctor.
